38.6 m Double-Membrane Gasholder for an Agro-Complex
The Flexsol team has developed a comprehensive project for an agro-complex in Italy that specializes in processing livestock waste. The client required a detailed technical design for a durable and efficient biogas storage solution that would optimize production processes and guarantee the stable operation of the future biogas plant.
The result of this work was a design for a FLEXSOL W-COVER double-membrane cover with a diameter of 38.6 meters—a custom-engineered solution calculated for maximum productivity and safety.
Calculation Based on the Farm’s Needs
A crucial part of the project work was analyzing the raw material potential. Our design is calculated for the stable loading of a biogas plant supported by a farm with a livestock count of 1,100 to 1,500 head of cattle. This design approach ensures that the future facility will not only be able to fully utilize waste by converting it into valuable fertilizer but also generate enough biogas for continuous energy production.

A vital part of the project is the support net. In the gasholder’s design, the net performs two main functions:

Sulphur Deposition: Elemental sulphur contained in the biogas physically settles on the surface of the net.

Structural Protection: In the event of pressure loss or excessive snow loads, the net prevents the inner membrane from sinking into the substrate, protecting it from damage.
Result for the Client
The collaboration resulted in a meticulously detailed technical design that serves as a reliable foundation for the future implementation of the biogas plant. The client received a complete package of engineering calculations and drawings that consider all the specific features of the site and guarantee that the future structure will comply with the highest standards of quality and safety.
