The Flexsol team successfully implemented a project to design and install a double-membrane cover for a biogas plant commissioned by a leading Ukrainian energy company. The main task was to create an airtight and reliable biogas storage facility to ensure stable cogeneration unit operation and protect the reactor from environmental influences.
Technical Solution:
A 24-meter diameter dome cover was manufactured for the site. The design is based on the double-membrane principle, where each part performs its critical role:
Outer Membrane: Made of high-strength PVC-coated technical fabric, resistant to UV and aggressive atmospheric factors. It maintains a constant dome shape using air pressure, protecting the internal system from wind, snow, and precipitation.
Inner Gas Membrane: Made of a specialized material with increased gas impermeability. It directly contacts the biogas, providing airtight accumulation and regulating storage volume based on gas production intensity.
Key Advantages:
Maximum Airtightness: The use of high-frequency (HF) welding for seams guarantees zero methane leakage, which is critical for both ecology and the energy company’s economic efficiency.
Aggressive Environment Resistance: The inner membrane materials are designed for long-term contact with biogas containing hydrogen sulfide without loss of elasticity or strength.
Speed of Installation: Thanks to the flexibility of the design and Flexsol’s professional approach, the installation was completed in a short timeframe.
Longevity: The estimated service life of the system exceeds 10 years, ensuring a rapid return on investment.
Result:
The installation of the 24m double-membrane cover allowed the energy company to optimize the biogas accumulation process and ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply for electricity generation. The project serves as an example of effective renewable energy technology implementation in Ukraine.
